Kayode Delighted Making History For Gazientep

Gazisehir Gaziantep FK of Turkey striker, Olarewaju Kayode has stated delight with his historic feat of becoming the club’s first player ever to score in the Turkish Super Lig, as he hit the opening goal for the top-flight newcomers in a 4-1 win over Genclerbirligi.

Kayode, who is on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine, opened the rain of goals for Gazientep in the 32nd minute on Monday night, then made it 2-0 in the 40th minute, when he converted a penalty kick, much to the sheer delight of the Ibadan-born former youth international.

The exuberant Kayode, who has also proved his goals scoring mettle with clubs in Cote d’Ivoire and Austria, but failed to get into the main team of Manchester City of England, who loaned him to Girona of Spain, enters Gazientep’s records as the first to score a Super Lig goal for them.

It was a man-of-the-match performance for Kayode at Gaziantep Stadyumu, as the in-form attacker, who also troubled Fenerbahce’s defence last week, also had an opposing player, Ahmet Oguz, sent off for a foul on the marauding hitman in the 27th minute.

Five minutes later, Kayode erupted when he latched onto a back pass and beat the goalkeeper with a left-footed strike in the box, then doubled the advantage with a spot kick five minutes before half time.
