Kingsley Michael Glad To Get Bologna Debut

Bologna of Italy midfielder, Kingsley Michael has declared that he is very glad to finally get his first match with the Serie A club’s main team, just a week after he put to paper on a new contract with the team.

The Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist admitted further that he was hugely excited with the impact he played in the club’s latest tie in Coppa Italia, which he said provided him a solid foundation for his new deal, which is expected to keep him at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara until 2024.

Michael, who was on the bench when they faced Cagliari and Udinese during the Serie A’s 2017/18 season, finally made his official debut for Bologna in the Coppa Italia and helped his side win 3-0.

The 19-year-old fast-rising lad, who joined Bologna in 2017, sealed the new deal after featuring prominently for the club’s under-19 squad, and he admitted that he is now hoping to play regularly in the senior side this season, under the tutelage of Sinisa Mihajlovic.

It is bound to be a breakthrough campaign for Michael, as he has been on loan for the better part of his Bologna days and he moved to Serie B side, Perugia at the start of last season, where he made 25 appearances for The Griffins as they finished eighth on the table.

It was with excited words that The Rossoblu announced their new long-term agreement with Michael, who was of Nigeria’s squad to this year’as FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, after scoring a goal in 25 matches during his loan spell with Perugia last season.

Michael will now eagerly await the biggest sign of his advent into the big time at Bologna this weekend, as the prepare to take on Hellas Verona in their opening Serie A game of the 2019-20 season on Sunday.

He told SCORENigeria: “Everything is now history. I played my first official match, I played the whole 90 minutes and we won convincingly.

“I am pleased my dream became a reality. now hope to justify the confidence of the coach. I was signed by Bologna, and last season I was loaned out to Perugia in Serie B. I was recalled by my parent club for pre-season.”
