Ronald Araujo is delighted with his new contract at Barcelona.

The defender has penned terms to 2026.

He said at today’s signing ceremony: “It is an enormous happiness, to be in this club, the best in the world. Thank God to continue here, it is tremendous, my family, my parents, my wife. I am moved because we went through many things … Thank the club for the support when Iarrived, to the coaching staff I had, those who bet on me.

“At first it was difficult, it was a different style, and now I sign the contract and it is a satisfaction. I also thank my teammates.”

Barca president Joan Laporta also remarked: “We are consolidating the sports project. It is not easy but people like Ronald Araujo help us. It is character, it is commitment, it is spectacular and the public reciprocates it. We love you.

“You are called to be one of the most important players in the Barça’s next decade. It’s a project that is just being built, that will improve and that has very good foundations, Araujo, in defence, midfielders like Nico, Pedri, Gavi… and in front of people like Ferran, Ansu, with character, personality… It’s a pride to be president of Barça at times like this, seeing a player so grateful.”
