Barcelona coach Xavi has said Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba must fight for their place.
The veteran defensive pair weren’t considered for victory over Real Valladolid yesterday.
Xavi said in the aftermath: “I try to be honest and clear with the squad and I try to put in the one who is better. I decide.
“They are going to play. They are very good. They lead the locker room, they encourage, they humbly accept the situation, but they have to change it.
“They can be very important. They are going to participate and play.”
On Eric Garcia, Xavi also said: “Today he made a great game. He is criticised, this is Barça.
“For me, having him in the team is a joy. He could be a captain at his age. He is competitive. He gives security when the ball comes out. He is a f***ing professional.”
