Real Madrid have told Luka Modric to retire from international football if he wants a new contract at the club.
Modric’s current deal expires at the end of this season.
The 37-year-old has made 463 appearances over an 11-year spell.
During that time, the Croatia captain won 21 trophies at the club, including five Champions League titles.
According to Onefootball, Madrid have informed Modric he must retire from international duty if he wants to stay with the club.
It is understood that this is a non-negotiable condition.
Modric has won 162 caps for Croatia and was played a crucial role in their run to the World Cup final in 2018 and their third-place finish at the 2022 tournament.
