Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo explained jumping over the club’s badge on the sidelines during the victory over Elche.
The Uruguayan had a calm game, with Elche down to 10 players and unable to compete. He tried to score an acrobatic goal but it didn’t quite come off.
“I am very happy for the win and the path that we’re on. The team is growing,” said the defender after the game.
One of the keys of Xavi’s Barca is that they don’t let in goals, just one in six games.
“We were sure of that all we needed to correct from last season. One of those things was to keep more clean sheets and we’re doing it. We’ve got a lot of quality players up front (too).”
Araujo jumped over the badge on the side of the pitch so as not to step on it.
“I respect the club and I’m a fan,” he said. “When I can, I will jump over it out of respect for the club and the fans .”
