Victor Ikpeba has stated that Libya should be banned from international football due to the inhumane treatment the Super Eagles have faced.
The team remains stranded at Al Abaq Airport after arriving in Libya on Sunday for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Mediterranean Knights.
Captain William Troost-Ekong has already announced that the players plan to boycott the game.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has submitted a protest letter to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding the situation.
Ikpeba, who is part of the Nigerian delegation in Libya, criticized CAF, saying, “If CAF knows their job, Libya ought to be banned from international football.
They are not mindful of the safety and wellbeing of players across Africa.”
He expressed concern about Libya being designated as a host country, remarking, “This is a high-risk country, and one wonders who approved for Libya to play their games at home.
I played for the Super Eagles for 10 years, and I never experienced anything like what I have in Libya in the last few hours.”
