Lookman Returns to Training as Atalanta Host Club Brugge

Ademola Lookman and Sead Kolasinac are back in training with Atalanta just in time for their crucial UEFA Champions League second-leg playoff against Club Brugge.

Their return is a much-needed boost for La Dea as they aim to overcome a first-leg deficit.

According to Giulia Mazzoleni, a correspondent for Eco di Bergamo, both players were seen taking part in training at Atalanta’s facilities on Monday afternoon.

Atalanta’s recent form has raised concerns. After being serious contenders for the Serie A title before the winter break, their fortunes have taken a sharp downturn. They have since been eliminated from the Coppa Italia, struggled in league play, and now face a tough European challenge.

Despite a dominant 5-0 victory over Hellas Verona 10 days ago, Atalanta followed their 3-2 first-leg loss in Belgium with a frustrating 0-0 draw at home against Cagliari.

Meanwhile, Club Brugge has been strong in European competition, securing impressive results against the likes of Aston Villa, Sporting CP, and Juventus.

In the first leg, Brugge took the lead in the 15th minute through Ferran Jutgla, only for Mario Pasalic to equalize for Atalanta before halftime. However, a last-minute penalty from Gustaf Nilsson gave Brugge a 3-2 victory.

Atalanta are still managing defensive injury issues, with Kolasinac and Italy international Giorgio Scalvini among those struggling to regain full fitness. Lookman, recovering from a knee injury, has returned to training, offering hope for the team’s prospects.

Club Brugge, meanwhile, arrive in Bergamo with a fully fit squad and no suspension concerns, allowing them to field an unchanged starting XI.

Atalanta’s inconsistent form has put their season in jeopardy, having won only three of their last 13 matches in all competitions. However, with the advantage of playing at home, they still have a chance to force extra time or stage a dramatic comeback.
