Inter striker Romelu Lukaku dedicated his goal against Udinese to his former teammate Christian Atsu: ‘This is a hard one to take.’
The Belgian forward opened the account for the Nerazzurri against Udinese on Saturday night. It was his first goal at San Siro 636 days after his last one in 2021.
Lukaku pointed fingers towards the sky, dedicating his goal to Atsu, one of his former teammates at Everton.
Atsu’s body was found almost two weeks after the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria, killing hundreds of thousands of people.
Lukaku posted the picture of his celebration on social media, along with other photos with Atsu.
“Rest easy brother. This one is a hard one to take,” Lukaku wrote on Instagram.
“It was amazing to be around you. You’re humbleness and love for God, the way how you worked in training. The love you had for your family and kids. May God give all the strength to your kids and family … God bless your soul. Love you always.”
Juventus defender Danilo also paid tribute to Atsu on social media and so did Antonio Conte, who had coached the Ghana international for a few weeks at Chelsea in 2016.
