However, though it was Banik Ostrava of Czech Republic striker, Tijani Muhammed that scored Nigeria’s equalizer in the encounter, all rave reviews and accolades went to Makanjuola for staging a brilliant outing.

In response, Makanjuola said he was happy to get the nod, which he dedicated to the coaches, officials and teammates, then hailed Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for according the squad solid preparations.

The 18-year-old left-footed attacker-cum-winger added that he was truly delighted to make Coach Paul Aigbogun’s final list of 21, for which he stressed that he has the ability to make good things happen.

He is now looking forward to a sterling show at the Youth Mundial, where the Flying Eagles are drawn in Group D with USA, Ukraine and Qatar, against which they will play their first match next Friday, May 24th.

Makanjuola said: “I’m very happy to be among the final players that will be representing the country in Poland.

“I think we have what it takes to do the country proud when the tournament kicks off later this month.

“The level of preparations has been exceptional because when I first came to the camp everything was well organized.

“The training pitches are lovely, just to make sure we go out there and bring back the cup to Nigeria. I promise we will bring the trophy home.”
