After about a week of intensive football scouting program involving some top academies in Lagos, which was put together by high-flying sports agency, Makellos Sports, the exercise finally ended Friday in grand style at the newly renovated Mobolaji Stadium.
Three top Spanish scouts along with their host, Iseh Philip Ogochukwu, CEO Makellos Sports, took their time to do the selection themselves to ensure that the very best of the best were picked.
While speaking to our correspondent after the program, one of the scout said they were in Nigeria with Makellos to try to find good players that can may be fit into football in Spain.
He however expressed dismay over the quantum of talents available in the country.
“We are shocked by the amount of talents we found here, if I must be frank with you, said one of the visiting scout.
“We really don’t know much about Nigerian football prior to our coming other than they are very energetic and have one of the strongest national team in Africa.
“But we didn’t know that they can also play beautiful high pressing possession football”, he said.
But for Iseh, Makellos CEO, the organization will continue to do this as often as it’s possible to see how they can help as many talented young footballers to actualize their dreams, which is the major objective of the agency.
“We are excited over the huge success of this first edition of the program.
“We will continue to do this as often as we can to see how we can help as many of these young talented players achieve their dreams”, he concluded.
Meanwhile, the scouting program was planned by VA global international CEO, Ejika Abuodima and FC Bethel Sporting coach, Nathaniel Olagunju.
The foreign scout’s have since returned to Spain but however promised to return again soon.
