A look at all the latest Premier League transfer news and rumours
By Steve Wollaston
Just a couple of hours left now until the January transfer window closes.
The desperation is growing and the phone calls are getting more frantic from Premier League bosses, club directors, agents and players.
We take a look at the very latest transfer news and gossip from the division.
Liverpool could finally be about to offload Lazar Markovic over three-and-a-half years since his last competitive appearance for the club.
Markovic – who arrived from Benfica for £20million in the summer of 2014 – played 34 games in his first season at Anfield, scoring three goals.
But the final one of those games, a 2-1 win over QPR in May 2015, was his last competitive game for the Reds.
The Serbian has been on loan moves to Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon, Hull City and Anderlecht since then, and after a permanent move to the latter broke down in the summer he is now lined up for a move to Besiktas, who have got closer to a move according to Turkish publication Star, via Sport Witness .
Valverde Confirms Denis Suarez Is heading For Arsenal.
The Barcelona boss made the announcement ahead of Barca’s clash with Sevilla.
“Denis Suarez is on the verge of joining Arsenal,” Valverde said.
“There is not much left to make it official, we hope he does well, he has always acted with dedication and we are happy with him.”
Suarez is set to join Arsenal on an initial loan deal with the view to a permanent £18m switch in the summer.
Depay would move to City
Memphis Depay had said he wants a move to Manchester City.
The former Manchester United winger has rejuvenated his career at Lyon after sealing a move to the Ligue 1 giants in 2017.
The Dutchman transferred to the Red Devils from Ajax in 2015 with much promise. But in one-and-a-half seasons the 24-year-old only mustered seven goals in 53 appearances.
Now the forward is ready to move on again, targeting bigger clubs this time – including Manchester City .
In an interview with Helden magazine, Depay revealed the six clubs he wants to play for next – and none were United.
“Lyon is a big club, but not one of the five best in Europe,” he said.
“I want to go to a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich…”
Man Utd To Pursue Koulibaly In The Summer
Manchester United are unlikely to secure any signings in the January transfer window and instead focus all their efforts on bringing in a defender in the summer.
According to the Evening Standard, Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly is the club’s No.1 transfer target come the end of the season.
The 27-year-old has made 18 Serie A appearances this season and his form has attracted plenty of attention from across Europe.
The Red Devils have made an incredible transformation under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, winning all nine games since the Norwegian was appointed caretaker boss.
But with just three clean sheets from those nine fixtures Solskjaer will be keen to sure up his defence, should he keep the job.
