Man U convinced £84million Osimhen can replace Ronaldo

Date:

Manchester United have identified and reportedly intensifying efforts at landing Super Eagles and Napoli ace Victor Osimhen as possible replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo’s playing time could be drastically cut if the Old Trafford side are successful in their pursuit of Victor Osimhen.

The 22-year-old has impressed for Napoli this season, scoring 11 goals in 22 games, despite missing two months due to a cheekbone injury.

Since returning to the side in January, the Nigerian has scored two goals in six games and is reportedly on Ralf Rangnick’s radar.

According to Rai Sports journalist Ciro Venerato, the former lille star is the main target to replace Ronaldo in the summer and that will come at a cost as Napoli have started their man will not go below £84million for the youngster.

Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford last summer and despite walking on the ground, his form has dried up, scoring just once in his last 10 games.

The Portuguese superstar is on contract until 2023 but earns £480k a week, making him the highest paid Premier League player.

He’s also 37, which makes him 15 years older than Osimhen, so it’s easy to see why Rangnick is interested in the Nigerian.’

Despite Ronaldo’s slump in form, he remains United’s top scorer this season with 15 goals. Die-hard fans of the multiple Ballon d Or winner however insists that the Portuguese is not to be blamed over United’s below par run noting that it will take a complete turn around of the team to meet target.

Should Man United succeed in landing Osimhen who was forced to miss the recently concluded Nations Cup in Cameroon, he would be the second Nigerian to play for the club after Odion Ighalo who had stared for the club for a while making about 12 appearances with five goals to his credit.
