Date:

Diminutive 1472 FC player, Metti Yusuf stole the show as his team defeated Igbajo United of Osun State 1-0 in their Nigeria National League (NNL) match played on Sunday in Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Yusuf was in blistering form as his lone strike was what made the difference in the game to gift 1472 their first maximum points of the season.

The Lagos based side kicked off their 2024/2025 NNL campaign on a bright note by amassing the maximum points at stake to make a bold statement of their intentions and readiness for the season.

The President of 1472 FC, Dozy Mmobuosi was full of excitement after the encounter while not taking anything away from the opponents.

“I’m excited over this win. The boys did a good job but I must also commend our opponents for given them a good fight.

“It was a good match and I enjoyed every minute of the game while it lasted.

The CEO of 1472, Seyi Jones also praised the tenacity and resilience of his players after the hard- fought encounter.

“It was a very tough match but I must commend my boys for their commitment, resilience and hard work.

“The win didn’t come easy but what matters is that we got the three points.

“Remarkably, this is our first win of the season which makes it very special”, he noted.

The NNL kick-started across various centers in Nigeria a couple of weeks ago with the curtain raiser at Abakiliki between newcomers, Abakiliki FC and Madiba FC of Lagos which ended 2-2.
