Middlesbrough seal loan move for Iheanacho

Kelechi Iheanacho has made his transfer decision as Victor Orta has agreed to sell the Sevilla striker to English Championship club Middlesbrough.

There had been speculation throughout January about a potential return to English football for Iheanacho, the former Leicester City forward. With the transfer window about to close, it now appears that the rumor could become a reality—at least part of it.

According to Spanish outlet El Desmarque, Iheanacho is set to join the Championship promotion battle, but not at Leeds United, as some had suggested. In fact, a move to Leeds was never on the cards, with no offer made for the player. The club had no interest in taking on a player with a high wage demand, especially one who has not been in the form typically expected for such a financial commitment.

However, it appears Middlesbrough do not share those same concerns and according to the Spanish press, ex-Leeds United Director of Football Victor Orta has agreed a deal with another of his former clubs for the sale of Iheanacho.

There had been some suggestion Saturday that Scottish giants Celtic would enter the fray for his signature. Iheanacho is already in England  according to El Desmarque, to finalise a loan move to the Riverside Stadium for the rest of the season.

Sevilla coach Garcia Pimienta has said Iheanacho does not have a future at the La Liga club after he struggled to impress in the first round of the campaign.

Last season, Iheanacho, 28, featured in the Championship to help Leicester City win promotion back to the Premier League.
