Minister excited by talented youngsters at Youth Games

Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has expressed profound admiration for the exceptional talent showcased at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba.

Senator Enoh commended the young athletes, emphasizing the remarkable potential being revealed at this year’s event.

 “It is amazing to see the incredible talents chinning out in this youth competition. The real highlight this year isn’t just the medals being won but the remarkable discovery of raw talents across different sports,” Senator Enoh remarked.

Among the many young stars shining bright, one standout is Isabella Inmi Ojo Ichado, the youngest female chess player in Nigeria.

The  eight-year-old Ichado who  represents Kogi State in chess, developed a passion for the game at the tender age of three under the tutelage of her father-a chess coach. She has since demonstrated exceptional prowess on the chessboard.

“Young athletes like Isabella are proof of the immense potential that exists in our country,” Senator Enoh said, emphasizing the importance of identifying and supporting such talents at an early stage. “She is an inspiration, not only because of her skill but also her dedication to the game at such a young age. We are proud of her and the other young stars rising through this platform.”

The Minister reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to nurturing grassroots sports and ensuring that events like the National Youth Games remain crucial for developing future national champions.

The National Youth Games, which gathers thousands of young athletes from across Nigeria, continues to be a key platform for promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and competitive spirit.

This year’s edition has already highlighted several emerging stars with the potential to represent Nigeria on the global stage in the near future.
