Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho will be seeking to score his first goal and make his first start in almost three months when his club, Leicester City travel to Sadium MK for their Carabao Cup Round of 16 ( fourth round) fixture against their host, Sky Bet League 1, MK Dons on Tuesday evening.
Iheanacho has been reduced to cameo appearances for the Foxes since the start of the 2022/23 football season in England. He has started just one of 10 Premier League games he has featured in so far this season.
The 26 year old only start was way back in September (4) when he incidentally scored his only goal of the season in Leicester City’s 5-2 drubbing at the Amex stadium against Brighton.
The Nigerian did not feature in his club’s last two Premier League games against Everton and West Ham and has started just one of two Carabao Cup games this season.
If he starts Tuesday night, he will be seeking to be the third ‘Super Eagles’ player to score at least 10 goals in the competition after Ade Akinbiyi and Efan Ekoku.
He has scored nine times in 20 appearances so far and last scored in the competition in September 2021 when his left footed strike on 88 minutes sealed a 2-0 win for Leicester City in their 2-0 defeat of Millwall away at The Den.
Meanwhile, Iheanacho’s Nigerian compatriot at the club, Wilfred Ndidi will be seeking to score his first goal in 12 appearances in the competition.
