Morocco 2025: Chelle names Nwabali, Osimhen, Ndidi in 28-man Super Eagles squad

Head Coach Eric Sékou Chelle has named Stanley Nwabali, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Zaidu Sanusi, Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and 20 others in Nigeria’s 28-man squad for the 35th Africa Cup of Nations, which begins in Morocco in 10 days.

The Franco-Malian tactician also listed defenders Chidozie Awaziem and Bright Osayi-Samuel; midfielders Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Raphael Onyedika; as well as forwards Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon among the regulars for the tournament.

Cyprus-based goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, centre-back Igoh Ogbu and striker Paul Onuachu return to the fold, while Ryan Alebiosu of England, Usman Muhammed of Israel, Inter Milan midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Belgium-based Tochukwu Nnadi and Croatia-based forward Salim Fago Lawal earn maiden call-ups.

As part of their build-up, the Super Eagles will face the Pharaohs of Egypt in a friendly at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday, December 16, before travelling on a chartered flight to Fès, their Group C base, two days later.

The three-time African champions open their campaign on December 23 against Tanzania, followed by group fixtures against Tunisia on December 27 and Uganda on December 30.
