Morocco Coach Shifts Attention To AFCON 2023

Date:

After having a splendid run in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the coach of the Atlas Lions of Morocco Walid Regragui confirmed they are now focused on winning the next African Cup of Nations.

The North African country proved all the bookmakers wrong by reaching the semi-final of the competition, beating Belgium, Spain and Portugal along the way.

They lost in the semi-final to the defending champions France before losing the loser’s final again to Croatia.

While reacting to the team’s performance, Regragui said they focussing on the next AFCON.

“I told my players that we cannot be kings of the world before being kings of our continent. We’re now going to work on winning the AFCON”, he said.

Cote d’Ivoire will host the competition in January/February 2024.
