Moses Simon Goes For Medical Checks, After Copping Knee Injury

FC Nantes of France winger, Moses Simon is set to see doctors during the week, following a knee injury he copped in action for his club, but the Super Eagles’ star says he is happy to have scored another goal before bowing out of his team’s 3-3 draw away to Dijon, reports.

Simon, who is on loan from Levante of Spain, was forced off just before halftime, even as he beat the opposing Senegalese goalkeeper, Alfred Gomis, after an assist by Louza Imran in the 20th minute, hauling his side level with his ninth goal of the season.

The former SK Trencin of Slovakia and KAA Gent of Belgium wonder-winger, who has also been involved in 40% of his side’s league goals in 25 matches so far this season, is seen as a potential extension candidate for a longer spell at Nantes when the season ends.

Nantes are already planning on keeping him beyond the expiration of his season-long loan deal, as Simon is now a goal shy of hitting double figures for Nantes, who are hopeful of a European spot from Ligue 1, in which their Nigerian dazzler has four goals and three assists in his last six appearances, only failing to score or assist in their 1-0 loss to Girondins-Bordeaux last month.

An air of apprehension is now rolling through the rank and file at Nantes, as Simon was left in pain after colliding with Dijon’s keeper, after drawing his side level at 1-1, and being without him for their next game could be a huge blow for their aspirations in the season ending rush.

However, rather than add to the tension among club fans and officials, Simon, who has scored for the third consecutive game, downplayed the injury, which saw him replaced three minutes before halftime, due to discomfort in his knee, as he says the doctors will check it out this week.

Simon told “Yea, I got a knock to the knee but for now I can’t say much but hopefully I will get to know the extent in the new week.”
