Jose Mourinho famously rewarded a ball boy during his time at Tottenham for his contribution to a goal, and he repeated this tactic in Roma’s Europa League semi-final with Bayer Leverkusen.
Back in 2019, when the Portuguese coach was working in North London, ball boy Callum Hynes rapidly gave the ball to Serge Aurier to help start an attack in a Champions League match against Olympiakos.
The move led to a goal, and Mourinho shook the ball boy’s hand and gave him a hug, praising him when speaking to the media after the match. Hynes was also rewarded with a special visit to the Tottenham training ground, where he met the first team squad.
As highlighted by fan page Chiamarsi Bomber, Mourinhoclearly hasn’t forgotten this incident and ahead of the kick-off of Roma’s Europa League semi-final first leg with Bayer Leverkusen, he was seen in close conversation with a Giallorossi ball boy.
The Portuguese coach is clearly in his element with the Giallorossi and is only a match away from leading them in their second European final in consecutive seasons.
