MTN CHAMPS Season 2 announces new dates for Ibadan, Kaduna & PH Grand Final!

Date:

With the first leg of Season 2 of MTN CHAMPS already staged in Asaba, Delta State, from 17th to 21st February, the remaining three legs of the School Athletics Championships have now gotten new dates, which run from the first week of April to the first week of May.

The second leg of Season 2 of CHAMPS will now hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, from Friday 5th to Monday 8th April 2024, and then proceedings will move to Kaduna from Tuesday 16th to Friday 19th April 2024. The fourth leg and Grand Final will hold in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, from Tuesday 30th April to Friday 3rd May 2024.

While Season 1 of CHAMPS featured three age groups, the Cadet (U-14), Youth (U-17) and Junior (U-20) age categories, Season 2 made a return with some innovations, one of which is the inclusion of the senior category (no age restrictions) to cater to adults who may be in school, university, club, state, national or unattached Athletes, taking the age categories of CHAMPS to 4.

MoC is once again partnering with Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF) as the Official Schools’ Partner of MTN CHAMPS, to ensure the widespread access and participation of schools and their students across all 4 host cities of MTN CHAMPS.

In addition, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) will continue as Official Technical Partner of CHAMPS to ensure that all races are electronically timed and all results are ratified for global recognition by World Athletics.

Online registration continues for the remaining three locations at http://mtnchamps.com/registration. It is compulsory for at least one parent or legal guardian of each participating athlete in the Cadet, Youth & Junior categories to sign the Parental Consent Form, which can be downloaded on https://mtnchamps.com/registration.
