Musa: Super Eagles Must Stay Fit, Avoid Injuries

Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia attacker, Ahmed Musa has added another angle to his permutations ahead of this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, as he says all players in Nigeria’s team must ensure they stay fit and avoid injuries.

Speaking against the backdrop of Friday’s draw that pits the three-time champions in Group B, along with Guinea, Burundi and Madagascar, the Eagles’ strand-in captain reckoned that it is a tough group, and only the best of physical conditioning will see his side through.

While acknowledging that the Eagles must not take any opponent for granted, Musa reckoned that many of the Nigerian players will find it tough at Egypt 2019, as they are young and going for their debuts.

Aside from him, Kenneth Omeruo and John Mikel Obi, who are all in the frame for spots in the squad to AFCON 2019, every other player is going for their maiden outing at the continental soccer spectacle.

Despite the odds, though, Musa insists the Eagles will be ready to make hay in Egypt, where he says they are eager to take on any country that comes their way, and concluded with a verdict that they will have a splendid end to the biennial competition in July.

Musa declared: “It is important for us to stay fit and avoid injuries so that everyone would be in great shape in Egypt.

“I think it is a tough group for the Super Eagles. We have a young team who have played at the World Cup but have not played at the AFCON.

“(All the same), for me, we are ready for any country in Egypt. It would be an interesting experience.”
