The executive chairman of Badagry Divisional Football Association, Dr. Osondu Martins Ibegbu is a man on a mission. The visionary leader has revealed his passionate desire and plans to reposition the association before he leaves office.
The BDFA boss took time to explain elaborately to SPORTSDAY on how he intends to achieve this onerous task which he said in six months he has been able to reignite the division through well thought-out programs and activities that have brought BDFA to the spotlight again as far as football is concerned in Lagos.
“My plan is to ensure BDFA has at least two NPFL teams before the end of my tenure.
“Prior to my assumption of office, this division doesn’t even have an NLO side but today we have about 14 of them playing in the NLO.
He also talked about how without government funding his board has been able to achieve a lot of physical development such as getting an office to serve as secretariat to the association which was not the case before his coming.
“We run an annual budget of over N850m and this is without any government funding.
“We’re lucky to have club owners that have been very supportive outside other external sources from where we derive our capital.
Osondu explained how through their efforts and that of the Lagos state FA chairman, Hajji Liameed Gafar approval has been granted for the building of a stadium in the division as BDFA is the only division in the state without a stadium.
“I can inform you with pride that the building of a stadium for this division will soon commence by the state.
“Badagry is the only division without a stadium amongst the five divisions in the state but we are happy it will soon be a thing in the past, he said.
He further noted that two terms in office will be enough for him to achieve all these set objectives while also laying down a template for others after him to follow to ensure BDFA continued on the path of progress.
