Daniel Ogunmodede says his Remo Stars deserved the one-goal win over Enyimba.

It took Samuel Anakwe 17 seconds to score the fastest goal of the season, after poking the ball into Enyimba’s goal from close range after being set up by Edidiong Ezekiel.

Ogunmodede couldn’t hide his delight in his post-match chat.

“A good reaction from the lads and am so proud of the attitude they displayed in the game, as they responded well

” To be honest, the entire team was bittered with itself after losing 3-0 to Bendel Insurance in the NPFL top-of-the-table clash in Benin City. We know we didn’t deserve to lose in such a manner.

“Going into the Matchday 5 game, the team needed the catalyst to ignite its good form and we got it against the People’s Elephants in less than 30 seconds, which was good for the team.

Asked if his team’s goal ratio per match gives him concern, “For me, I’m satisfied that we got the 3 points, which is the most important thing for me. I am also delighted that my team creates a lot of chances. These are young lads, they are over-excited, and they want to impress the fans, me, and make up for the loss on Matchday 4.

“We did deserve to score two, three or more goals against Enyimba but the 3 points were key for the team.”

Up next for the Sky Blues Stars is a trip to Uyo, where they battle Akwa United in a tricky fixture of Matchday 6 at the Goodwill Akpabio International Stadium.
