Al Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that his son prefers Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé over him.
Ronaldo scored a brace in a dominant Saudi Pro League win over the weekend, moving to the top of the goal-scoring charts.
However, despite his impressive performance, it wasn’t enough to win over his five-year-old son, Mateo.
In an interview with La Sexta, Ronaldo admitted that Mateo believes Mbappé is the better player.
“Mateo, he really likes Mbappé,” Ronaldo said.
“He sometimes tells me: ‘Hey dad, Mbappé is better than you,’ and I reply by saying: ‘No, I am better than him, I have scored more goals.’”
Mbappé is widely known to have idolised Ronaldo in his youth.
The France captain has started to emulate some of Ronaldo’s feats at the Bernabéu in recent weeks after his high-profile move from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
After his hat trick against Real Valladolid on Saturday, Mbappé now has 15 goals in La Liga, second in the Pichichi race behind Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski. Ronaldo scored a club-record 450 goals for Los Blancos between 2009 and 2018.
