Napoli shop for Osimhen’s replacement

Date:

Napoli have started to look for a replacement for Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen.

The 23-year-old has been nothing short of sensational for Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen side, dominating the Hinründe with ten goals and eight assists in just fifteen starts.

His remarkable performance earned him the Rookie of the Month award four times consecutively. However, a setback struck in the form of an adductor injury, sidelining him for most of the Rückrunde while Leverkusen continued its pursuit of silverware on multiple fronts.

Italian transfer expert Niccolò Ceccarini shed light on Napoli’s transfer plans, mentioning Boniface among the strikers on their radar.

Ceccarini stated, as reported by Calcio Mercato, “In addition to him, there is also Benjamin Sesko. Also in this case the evaluation is the same as Gimenez, Leverkusen’s Boniface.”

Despite the allure of Napoli, the likelihood of Boniface departing from Bayer’s Bay Arena seems slim.

Xabi Alonso’s commitment to stay with the German club for another season provides stability, making it a logical choice for the Nigerian striker to continue his development there.

Furthermore, Leverkusen’s secured UEFA Champions League spot for the 2024/2025 season and their contention for the Bundesliga title add to the reasons for Boniface to stay put.

With just three wins away from clinching their first-ever Bundesliga crown, Leverkusen’s ambitions contrast Napoli’s dwindling hopes of Champions League qualification.
