National Council on Sports Removes Para Sports From National Sports Festival

The National Council on Sports says Para Sports will no longer feature as part of the events at the National Sports Festival.

This decision was taken at the virtual meeting of the council held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 and chaired by the Sports Minister, Sunday Dare.

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the council affirmed the 28th November – 10th December, 2022 dates for the 21st National Sports Festival holding in Asaba, Delta State.

The council ‘approved that the three (3) compulsory Para sports in the National Sports Festival namely: Para Athletics, Para Powerlifting and Para Table Tennis would no longer feature in the National Sports Festival.’

The council also ‘approved the inclusion of Cricket’ among the events to be competed for while netball, teqball and mixed martial art have been approved as demonstration sports.

The council says inspection of facilities and the joint technical meeting for the Delta 2022 21st National Sports Festival will hold between 3rd-5th of November, 2022.
