The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Ismail Abubakar, has given words of encouragement to the organisers of the 21st edition of the National Sports Festival holding in the coastal city of Asaba, Delta State in November, this year.
Abubakar, on an inspection tour of facilities been put in place for the biennal sports feast remarked Wednesday that there was no doubt in his mind that Delta was getting ready to play the good host with the high level of preparation he was seeing by the organisers.
Noting that the state was renowned for excellence in sports, he urged that the momentum in the building of infrastructures be sustained for the name of the state to be written in gold.
“So far, so good”, he would enthused as he also encouraged the local organising committee not to lose focus in it’s efforts to get things on track before the showpiece.
He also said he was looking forward to seeing much improvement on the various projects under construction for the unity games.
Asked the essence of the visit, he explained it was to see things for himself.
The Permanent Secretary was conducted round the facilities by Chief Tonobok Okowa, the Executive Chairman, Delta State Sports Commission and co-chairperson of the LOC while Evangelist Solomon Ogba, the body’s Adviser and Sir Chris Anaziah, it’s Secretary were on ground to smoothen things up by way of explaining the projects’execution.
There were also Chief Ernest Juweto, a member of the commission’s board, management and staff of the sports body.
Places visited include the Event Centre, St Patrick’s College, St Brigid’s Grammar School, Grand Hotel and the festival main venue, the Stephen Keshi Stadium, all in Asaba.
