Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk has heaped praises on Jurrien Timber and claims the Ajax centre-back is better than he was at the same age.
Timber has established himself at Ajax defence and his former boss Erik ten Hag wants him at Manchester United over the summer.
Timber is now fighting it out for a place in Netherlands’ squad for the forthcoming World Cup campaign in Qatar later this year.
Van Dijk believes the Ajax centre-back has all the qualities to become one of the elite.
“I wasn’t nearly as far along as he is now [at the same age],” Van Dijk told reporters of Timber.
“I have nothing but praise for him. He is a great player and a true professional.
“He has so much potential. Hopefully, he can develop further. Then it will be all right, I think.”
