Ndidi Gains More Plaudits From Leicester City Teammate

Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has received another round of plaudits from one of his teammates, as James Maddison believes the Super Eagles star is the best in his position currently plying his trade in the English Premier League.

Although Maddison has also received a tremendous number of rave reviews and accolades in recent weeks, the England international is bowing to Ndidi, with a verdict that the former Nath Boys of Lagos and Racing Genk of Belgium star is the best midfielder in the EPL.

Making a case for his pal before Sunday’s late kick-off, in which his side had to come from an early goal conceded against visiting Everton at King Power Stadium, Maddison said he always feels confident of a good game for The Foxes, because his view has always been that Ndidi is the best midfielder in England’s top-flight league.

He, however, added that the 22-year-old Nigerian ace has always been underrated, despite being ever-consistent in Leicester’s first-11 since his arrival from Genk in 2017, but added that it is not wrong for recent data showing Ndidi as currently the best ball interceptor in the EPL, with 61 tackles and 37 recoveries so far this season.

The England international added that Ndidi’s solidity at the back and ability to get the ball off opposing players with timely tackles and keen interceptions helps him move up front further, with other players in the squad equally get such opportunities to free themselves, which accounts largely for The Foxes’ success story thus far in the ongoing campaign.

Maddison told Football Daily: “I think he’s the best in the Premier League at tackling and winning the ball back, bar none. (In) winning the ball back and taking the ball off the opposition, I don’t think there is anyone better than Wilfred.

“Sometimes you get a player like that and what he does doesn’t get on the back page of the papers, doesn’t get talked about on Match of the Day. We as teammates and players who play with him realise what a top player he is. He’s fantastic at what he does and he lets me and Youri Tielemans do our thing higher up the pitch because we know we’ve got that solidity behind us.”
