West Ham United are reportedly looking to Wilfred Ndidi as a potential replacement for Kalvin Phillips, whose loan spell from Manchester City has been far from impressive,

The 27-year-old midfielder is approaching the final months of his contract with Leicester.

Talks regarding an extension haven’t yielded any progress, putting several clubs on high alert with Everton, Crystal Palace, Juventus, Fenerbahce, Getafe, and Sevilla all monitoring the situation of the Super Eagles midfielder.

Ndidi has been a crucial cog in Leicester’s quest for an immediate return to the Premier League, featuring in 29 Championship matches this season and has contributed to eight goals with three strikes and five assists.

The forme Racing Genk star found the net in their 2-1 victory over West Brom on Saturday.

The Hammers view Ndidi as a decent replacement for Phillips, who has failed to live up to expectations since joining on loan in January.

The loan agreement with Manchester City does not include a purchase option, and West Ham currently have no intention of making the move permanent.

Successfully acquiring Ndidi would be a significant coup for West Ham if Leicester are unable to secure his long-term future at the King Power Stadium.

The Nigerian midfielder’s experience and proven quality in the Premier League would be a valuable addition to David Moyes’ squad.

Ndidi has 192 Premier League appearances to his name, while directly participating in 16 goals (7 goals, 9 assists).
