Newcastle and Crystal Palace are running neck to neck in race to sign £22-rated Argentine winger Matias Soule from Juventus next month.
The Magpies are battling an injury crisis and could be set to strengthen their options in January due to their severely weakened squad.

Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, as per Football Italia, have claimed that Eddie Howe’s side and Palace are leading the race to sign Soule, who is currently out on loan at Frosinone.
The 20-year-old star has impressed at the mid-table side, scoring six goals in 12 Serie A appearances to date.

Soule made 21 appearances for Juventus before his loan move this season and has also made seven appearances for Argentina’s U20 side.

Juventus are reportedly planning to sell some of their youngster stars to Premier League clubs to raise funds for the January window.
There have also been reports that England winger Samuel Iling-Junior could be sold next month, with Premier League sides Tottenham, Aston Villa and Brighton all said to be keen.
In order to convince Frosinone to part ways with Soule, Juventus could offer them promising centre-back Dean Huijsen on loan until the summer.

Newcastle crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night in a penalty shootout defeat to Chelsea.
The Magpies went into the game with 11 injuries to their squad, with Fabian Schar and Joelinton the latest additions to an ever-growing list.
Among players they have been linked with include Man City midfielder Kalvin Phillips and goalkeepers David de Gea and Hugo Lloris – with Nick Pope set to miss four months due to shoulder surgery.
