Neymar ruled out of 2024 Copa América

Date:

Brazil forward, Neymar will not make the squad for the 2024 Copa América in the United States.

This was confirmed by the national team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, on Tuesday.

Neymar suffered a serious knee injury in October.

The 31-year-old tore his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus during Brazil’s World Cup qualifying defeat to Uruguay and underwent surgery two weeks later.

The Copa América will begin on June 20 and run through the final on July 14.

“It’s too early. There’s no point in skipping steps to recover sooner and taking unnecessary risks.

“Our expectation is that he will be prepared to return at the start of the 2024 season in Europe, which is August,” Lasmar told Brazil’s Rede 98.
