Nigeria U16 boys basketball national team defeated their Ivorian counterparts 67-38 in the opening game of the FIBA U16 African Zone 3 Championship played on Thursday at Eden Heart Sports Hall in Ghana.
The Nigerian boys started the game well, at the end of the first quarter they went up with ten-point gap (16-6) to state their readiness to winning the title.
The determined Nigerians ended the second quarter with ten point gap 31-21. Not losing grip, the Ivorians who were billed to face Ghana in the opener before the rescheduled fixture maintain their 10-point loss at the end of the 3rd quarter (47-37).
Nigeria however proved their superiority in the 4th quarter to end the match 67-38. The Nigeria U16 boys on Friday will face hosts, Ghana at 2pm while the girls of the two countries trade tackles at 4pm at the Eden Heart Sports Hall, Ghana.
The championship serves as qualifier for FIBA U16 African Championship to be hosted by Tunisia later this year.
