Nigeria Qualifies for FIBA U-19 World Cup with Victory Over Uganda

Nigeria’s U18 Women’s basketball team, the J’Tigress, secured their spot in the FIBA U19 World Cup with a 71-67 win against Uganda in Pretoria, South Africa, on Friday.

The J’Tigress will face Mali in the final on Saturday, after Mali, the defending champions, defeated Cameroon in the first semi-final.

The match against Uganda was fiercely contested, with Nigeria narrowly leading throughout.

J’Tigress won the first quarter 21-20, extended their lead to 45-39 by halftime, and maintained a 61-54 advantage going into the final quarter.

Despite Uganda’s efforts to close the gap, Nigeria held on to their lead, ending the game 71-67.

This semi-final rematch saw Nigeria avenge a previous loss to Uganda, where they had been undermined by illness affecting several team members.
