Nigeria captain, William Troost-Ekong, has confirmed that all issues surrounding the Super Eagles’ training boycott have been resolved, restoring calm to the camp ahead of today’s 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff against Gabon in Rabat, Morocco.

In a post on his X handle late Wednesday night, the skipper assured fans that the team remains united and focused after what had been a tense 24 hours.

“Issue resolved. Outstanding promises cleared on ground. Team is united and focused as before on representing Nigeria with our maximum for the games ahead,” Troost-Ekong wrote.

The players had boycotted training on Tuesday evening over unpaid allowances and a new bonus agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Although the National Sports Commission insisted all previous payments had been cleared, the squad reportedly demanded clarity on additional match bonuses for the crucial fixture.

Sources said following a series of meetings between team representatives and NFF officials, both parties reached a compromise, allowing training to resume immediately.

With the standoff now settled, focus has shifted back to football as the Super Eagles prepare to face Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang-led Gabon at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium today.

The winner will advance to meet either Cameroon or DR Congo in the CAF playoff final for a place in next March’s Intercontinental Playoffs.

Troost-Ekong, named Player of the Tournament at the last Africa Cup of Nations, has been praised for his leadership in restoring calm and unity within the squad as Nigeria intensifies its bid for a place at the 2026 World Cup.
