Ex-Nigeria International, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, has tipped the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar ahead of the Black Stars of Ghana.
Nigeria travel to Ghana to face the Black Stars in the first leg of the qualifying playoff billed for less than 9 days from now while the second leg comes up in Abuja .
And Aiyegbeni told Ghana’s Joy Sports that while it is no big deal if Ghana fails to qualify for the World Cup, it’s very important for the Super Eagles to be in Qatar.
Aiyegbeni, who played for Middlesbrough and Everton said that, noted that there is always a great rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria and their matches are always tough.
“Playing with Ghana is always going to be a big big rivalry because we believe we are the best” he said.
“Just imagine Nigeria not qualifying for the World Cup. Ghana not qualifying for the world cup is not a big deal.”
Nigeria has been at the World Cup six times while Ghana has been at the mundial three times.
