Nigerian-born Samson Dauda wins Mr Olympia

Nigerian-born bodybuilder Samson Dauda, representing the United Kingdom, has made history by winning the 2024 Mr. Olympia title.

This achievement marks him as the first bodybuilder of Nigerian descent to claim the prestigious title.

Mr. Olympia is an annual international competition for professional bodybuilders.

The 60th edition of the event took place on Saturday, October 12, during the 2024 Olympia weekend at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada.

Dauda triumphed over 17 competitors, including two former champions, Derek Lunsford from the USA and Hadi Choopan from Iran.

Hadi Choopan finished as the runner-up, while 2023 champion Derek Lunsford took third place.

As the winner, Dauda receives a cash prize of $600,000, along with a championship belt and trophy.

Another Nigerian competitor, Andrew Jacked, also participated in the event, finishing in fifth place.
