Southampton fielded two Super Eagles players, Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu but both were still on the losing side in a 3-2 defeat to league leaders, Liverpool at the Saint Mary’s Stadium.
Aribo was introduced in the 37th minute for injured Adam Lallana while Onuachu was handed a rare start by the Saints before he was replaced by Lesley Ugochukwu in the 52nd minute.
Both players gave a good account of themselves but the Saints are still rock bottom after 12 games with just four points.
In France, Super Eagles defender, Gabriel Osho played a pivotal role as Auxerre pipped Angers 1-0. The victory lifted Auxerre to the sixth spot with 19 points from 12 games.

In another French Ligue One game, Moses Simon saw 85 minutes of action but he could not rescue Nantes from a 2-0 home loss to Le Havre. The result has seen the Yellow and Green to slide to the 16th spot with 10 points.
In Spain, Kelechi Iheanacho was left on the bench in Sevilla’s 1-0 home win over Rayo Vallecano. His other Super Eagles teammate, Chidera Ejuke is yet to recover from his hamstring complaint.
The duo of Umeh Emmanuel and Ifeanyi Matthew were in action for FC Zurich who were thrashed 4-1 by league leaders, Lugano while Igoh Ogbu and Stephen Odey and their clubs- Slavia Prague and Randers secured maximum points in Czechia and Denmark respectively.
