Nmecha Admits Strong Desire To Play In Germany

Manchester City of England youth team striker, Lukas Nmecha has stated that he has a strong desire to play in the German Bundesliga, as he says his grasp of the language is strong and he still has fond memories of growing up in the country of his birth.

Although he spent the latter stage of his teenage years in England, Nmecha admits he still has nostalgia about Germany and the youngster, who spent the better part of last season on loan at Preston North End in the English lower division is thinking about moving to the top-flight in Deutschland.

Nmecha, who is currently with Germany’s youth national team at the European U21 Championship, also served up a strong hint that he could leave Man City altogether after the tournament, as a move this summer could be on for him top join a German Bundesliga outfit.

Speculation has already emerged that he is under the radar of Borussia Monchengladbach and, although he did not state categorically his next plan for the summer, Nmecha admits he may not even have pre-season with The Citizens at Etihad Stadium.

Nmecha told Kicker: “I’ll do my best at the European Championships, and if I come back to Man City afterwards, maybe I’ll do the preseason, maybe I’ll be on loan again, maybe I’ll come to Germany.

“There are prospects, there are some clubs in the Bundesliga. That would be great for me, because I speak German, because I would feel right at home. I like the football that is played in Germany.”
