NNL Super-4 Will Be Hitch Free In Enugu – Ignis

The media officer of Nigeria National League (NNL), Amar Ignis has promised that this year’s Super-4 play-off contest among the promoted clubs from the lower division will be hitch-free and very exciting to watch next weekend at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

Speaking ahead of next Friday’s commencement of action in The Coal City, Ignis said the NNL is working in consonance with Enugu State Football Association and the state’s sports commission to make the competition, which is meant to decide the NNL’s champions, run successfully and end on a remarkable note.

He enthused that all hands are already on deck to ensure the contest draws epoch-making action at The Cathedral, as Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officials are also lending a high level of support towards the smooth organization of the matches as well.

The NNL spokesman stated further during Radio Nigeria Network News that the competing teams are also keen on using the matches as part of their build-up programmes to the new season in the top-flight Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), which is scheduled to commence on the 22nd of this month.

He also disclosed that all the four competing teams – Adamawa United of Yola, Jigawa Stars of Jalingo, Warri Wolves of Delta State and Akwa Starlets of Uyo – will arrive Enugu on Thursday, the 12th of this month and the first two matches will hold on the 13th, with the final billed for Sunday the 15th and the clubs will leave Enugu on the 16th.

The opening match will see Adamawa United confront Jigawa Golden Stars at 2pm, after which Akwa Starlets will slug it out with Warri Wolves immediately after at same venue, then all the teams will observe Saturday, September 14 as a rest day.

The following day, the second game of the evening will between the winner of Match 1 and that of Match 2 to determine NNL’s champions of the past season, which will be preceded by the third-place classification clash between losers from the previous day.

Ignis disclosed: “We are working in conjunction with Enugu State FA and the sports commission to ensure a hitch-free competition.

“We also have the NFF backing us to ensure we complete our calendar; and there will not be any further postponement of our programme of activities.”
