Nottingham Forest join battle for in-demand Osimhen

Victor Osimhen

Nottingham Forest could make a bold move to outmaneuver Manchester United in the race to sign highly sought-after Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United as a key target for the summer, but the Red Devils may face stiff competition from a Premier League rival with a potential edge when the window opens.

According to TEAMtalk, Nottingham Forest are considering a summer swoop for Osimhen as they aim to secure a marquee striker signing. Their ambition is to strengthen the squad ahead of a possible Champions League campaign—provided they finish within the Premier League’s top five this season.

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has made it clear that he wants a world class number nine added to Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad for next season. They have also shown interest in Viktor Gyokeres, who is another striker that Man United have on their shortlist, although he is not keen on a move to the City Ground.

Osimhen moved on loan to Galatasaray last summer after falling out of favour at Napoli, although he is projected to return to the Serie A side at the end of the season, at which point he will become available again. And it is at that time that Man United have been expected to make their move to address their goal scoring woes.

However, uncertainty has emerged in recent days, dealing Manchester United another setback in their pursuit of Victor Osimhen. The Red Devils now face fresh competition from Nottingham Forest, who have reportedly entered the race for the prolific striker.

Osimhen, who has netted 26 goals in 30 appearances for Galatasaray this season, has been a top target for United, but Forest’s unexpected interest could complicate their plans.

Despite Nottingham Forest’s ambitions, luring a high-profile striker like Osimhen may still prove challenging—even if they secure Champions League qualification. However, that won’t deter their efforts to strengthen their squad.

Should the move materialize, Osimhen would have the opportunity to reunite with his Nigerian compatriots, Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina, at the City Ground.
