NPFL: Champions Rivers United fall to Narasawa; Pillars, Katsina Utd get boost

Newly-crowned Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Rivers United fell to a 2-1 defeat against Nasarawa United in Lafia on Sunday night.

Sunday Okereke put Rivers United ahead on five minutes, while Sikiru Olatubosun equalised for the visitors 10 minutes from time.

Tochukwu Michael netted the winning goal from the penalty spot on the stroke of 90 minutes.

Katsina United and Kano Pillars boosted their survival hopes with important wins at home.

At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina United defeated Remo Stars in a five-goal thriller.

The hosts took a two-goal lead in the first half through Tosin Omoyele.

Sikiru Alimi reduced the deficit in the 56th minute, with Alameen Adegbite netting the equaliser on the stroke of 90 minutes.

Rabiu Ali’s 51st minute penalty was all Kano Pillars needed to secure all three points against Rangers at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
