NPFL: Finidi laments poor officiating in Enyimba’s loss to Lobi Stars

Date:

Enyimba head coach, Finidi George cut a disappointed figure following his side’s defeat to Lobi Stars at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday.

The title holders went down to a 1-0 defeat in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, matchday 29 fixture.

Alao Danbani scored the winning goal for Lobi Stars in the game.

The Peoples Elephant, according to Finidi, were denied a clear penalty in the encounter.

The 53-year-old berated the officials for their poor handling of the game.

“We should be better than this in terms of officiating. We have to be better than this. When you have a penalty and you don’t give it, what do you expect? Is it a must that the home team must win?”

“Every time the same thing happens and we keep talking about making the league better. That was a chance and they got the goal but if you look at the game overall, we had the better possibility to have won the game.

“We are running our race. We are playing at home in our next game and we want to play and win properly, not in a deceitful way. If you check all our games, we don’t cheat anybody. When you get to this dicey period of the league and you see things like this, it’s shameful.”

Enyimba dropped to fourth position in the table following the defeat.

The Aba giants will host oriental rivals, Heartland, in their next game.
