NPFL: Gov. Wike splashes Dollars on Rivers United

Rivers United players have hit cloud nine after state Governor Nyelson Wike announced mouthwatering package for them for emerging champions of the Nigeria Football Premier League (NFPL).

Wike who has been pillar of support for the team according to various reports Thursday announced a reward of $20,000 (about N12.4m) each for the players.

As if that was not enough the Governor equally directed the state’s commissioner for Sports Boma Iyaye to make arrangement for the team to proceed to Spain where they will train with facilities of current Champions League winners Real Madrid

“The commissioner of sports will make sure that all of you will go to Madrid for two weeks to train because Madrid is where you can get the best team” he said according to the video dished out by the club.

He also approved another award Governor’s Medal Service Award (GMS) added to their names. Rivers United finished the league accumulating 77 points in 38 matches to emerge champions. The Garden City side will represent the country in the CAF Champions League.
