Katsina United FC returned to winning ways after defeating Dakkada FC 4-1 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina, in a Nigerian Professional Football League match on Wednesday,
The matchday 16 encounter of the ongoing NPFL 2021/0222 season saw both side play with much intensity in the bid to leave the bottom of the table.
Abbah Umar scored the first goal of the encounter for the home team 12 minutes into the first half after his shot was deflected in by one of the defenders of the visiting team.
Barely three minutes after the first goal, Amah Chibundu increased the goal tally for the home team to two, giving them a comfortable lead into the second half.
However, on resumption into the second half, Lasisi scored for Dakkada in the 53rd minute of the encounter to bring the scoreline to 2-1.
The match continued with both sides making frantic efforts to find the back of the net until the 73rd minute when the referee awarded a penalty to the home team following a foul on Amah Chibundu in the 18-yard box. Dauda Madaki converted the spot-kick to increase the goal tally in favour of the home team to 3-1.
In the 89th minute, Katsina United scored again as Aliyu Musa (warrior), who came from the bench rifled home to make the scores 4-1, winning all three points for the home team.
With the result, Katsina United occupy the 17th position on the league table with 17 points and will be playing their next match with Plateau United who are second with 34 points on Sunday the 6th of March 2022.
