Bendel Insurance coach, Monday Odigie has warned his team not to be complacent as they prepare to resume for the second stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The Benin Arsenal enjoyed an impressive first stanza with seven wins and two draws from nine games without losing a game.
The newly-promoted side have surprised many in the league with their stunning run.
Bendel Insurance are one of the ten teams yet to lose a game in various leagues in Africa, joining the likes of Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas, Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy FC, ASKO de Kara from Togo and Liberia’s BEA Mountain.
Al Ahly, CR Belouizdad, Namibia’s African Stars, Bo Rangers of Sierra Leone and Gambia’s Marimoo are all unbeaten in their various leagues.
Odigie is confident that his team will not be complacent despite their stunning start to the season.
“We still have more games to play in the second half of the season,” Odigie told The PUNCH.
“Winning the league isn’t our priority as we want to focus more on maintaining a high level of performance in our remaining fixtures.
“Our team is young, so they need to be thirsty for success. If all this can be done, success will surely come and in achieving that we will not be complacent.”
Bendel Insurance will resume NPFL action with a trip to Aba to face Enyimba next Wednesday.
