NPFL: Rivers United suffer first defeat, Akwa United floor Remo Stars

Newcomers Doma United inflicted first defeat of the season on holders Rivers United in their matchday six encounter on Sunday.

The Gombe-based club came back from a goal down to beat Rivers United 2-1.

Rivers United took the lead through Denis Ndasi on 25 minutes.

Usman Musa equalised for the home team in the 34th minutes.

Musa netted the winning goal on 68 minutes.

Former champions, Akwa United defeated Remo Stars 3-1 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

The hosts were awarded a penalty on five minutes which was converted by Cyril Olisema.

Qudus Akanni equalised for Remo Stars in the 24th minute.

Akwa United were back in front again on the dot of 45 minutes with Uche Collins directing Etim Mathew’s cross into the net.

Remo Stars were reduced to 10-men in the 55th minute when Andy Okpe was booked for the second time in the game.

Olalere Segun directed Olisema’s cross into his own net on the hour mark for Akwa United’s third of the game.
