Sunshine Stars finished their campaign in the Nigeria Premier League playoffs on a winning note, edging out Lobi Stars 3-1 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Sunday.
Stephen Chukwude opened the scoring for the Owena Waves in the 23rd minute.
Edith Agoye’s side doubled their advantage six minutes before the break.
Lobi Stars reduced the deficit through Elijah Ani in the 69th minute, but Vincent Temitope restored Sunshine Stars’ two-goal advantage eight minutes from time.
It was Sunshine Stars’ only victory in the Super Six playoffs. The Akure club garnered five points from five games.
Lobi Stars finished the competition at the bottom of the log with three defeats and two draws.
